2 "Toward the Light" as the fulfillment of Jesus’ teachings. 2.1 "Toward the Light" as the fulfillment of Jesus’ teachings. "Jesus was sent to Earth in order to teach mankind: to love the true God with all their heart, soul and mind, and to love their neighbor as they love themselves; he was sent to earth: to free the Jews from the bonds of the Mosaic law; and he was sent to Earth to find it in his heart to forgive, if possible, that dark spirit known throughout the world as Satan, and by way of his forgiveness to pray for his release from the powers of sin and darkness." (4 Note) As previously mentioned, Christ was besieged by Ardor ("Satan") throughout his earthly life. And he was therefore unable to complete the mission given to him by God. This partial defeat in no way alters the fact that Jesus Christ is our saviour. His status as saviour, however, was by no means attained by way of a propitiary sacrifice as Christianity would otherwise have us believe, but instead by virtue of his unfailing, patient and self-sacrificing actions as the one who led humanity out of the darkness and toward the light (see sec. 1.5 and 1.9-1.10). As leader of the Youngest, Christ, for the sake of mankind, has carried out his acts of love through an eternity from the transcendental realms, and he will keep on doing so until the last humans on Earth have passed through their final incarnation (see sec. 3). 2.2 "Speech of Christ" - The Catechism of love and the Foundation of Ethics. In and around the year 1911, when the emissaries of God - the spirits of light - were finally able to created a new, alternative channel of communication with mankind, in that they had established a clear and trust-oriented connection with a medium incarnated on Earth (see sec. 1.9), it was suddenly possible - directly and without interference from the servants of darkness - to inform humanity about the laws of God, that the oldest of the youngest during his incarnation as Jesus of Nazareth had preached while on earth. Utterly free from embellishment and misrepresentation, the oldest of the Youngest announces his pure "catechism of love" in TTL. This segment of the work, "Speech of Christ", constitutes a concise exposition of the ethical codex that serves as foundation for the evaluation of the sum of each and every human life. In a sumptuous, clear and ennobled language, Christ, in his speech dealing with love as the all-conquering force, tells of God's relationship with mankind. He discusses how everyone from the depths of his or her own mind must come to terms with the fact that God is infinitely more, infinitely higher and infinitely more just and loving than any of the established religious systems have taught. He discusses how each and every human being, by placing their faith in the leadership of God and by forgiving the penitent Ardor, will conquer darkness and thereby become "seeing": "yea, will you follow me, then shall the peace and blessedness of Heaven come upon you; for then will the hope in your hearts for eternal life become joyous certainty; then will you know with immutable certitude that death separates you only for a while form those you love, that you shall meet again in the Heavenly dwellings" (TTL, pg. 110). 2.3 The Conception of "Toward the Light" and the second coming of Christ. Because TTL elucidates the original and true teachings of Christ, it continues and completes the work of the church reformers, and because Christ in and by his speech has once again manifested himself for mankind, TTL is therefore synonymous with the second coming of Christ. For many, these facts will inevitably be difficult to understand and accept. It is therefore necessary at this point to say a little more about the implications inherent to the appearance of TTL and its explicit nature of revelation. When judging the manner whereby this work was introduced here on earth, many have believed that they were guided by that which was most essential - but one must understand that this may only be seen in its proper light after the narratives have been thought through and evaluated in accordance with an in-depth and unequivocal mental effort. Only then will one be able to grasp why it was necessary for this unique message to materialize in the aforementioned manner. In the meantime, the future will probably bring with it people, irreverent of TTL's warnings in relation thereto, who will judge as follows: How should one be able to acknowledge a work whose manner of conception is so utterly different, alternative and odd? Why should we choose to believe that the eternal truths have been brought to us by way of such a psychic work method. But what assertion is hereby being made? The assertion being made is that in the final analysis one knows better than God; in reality, one is claiming to be in possession of a greater clarity, a healthier ability to discern the truth than He who sees all, hears all, knows all. And instead of succumbing to such an exorbitant lack of humility, would it not be better to test the veracity of the explanation provided in TTL as to God's decision to utilize the previously mentioned method of work? Would it not be better, instead of leveling uncomprehending, hasty and imprudent charges against the work due to its alternative foundation, to immerse oneself therein and only then formulate an opinion? No one had expected that Christ's second coming would take place in and by the arrival of a book. And many years must inevitably transpire before one is able to rest comfortably in the knowledge that this is actually what has come to pass. The disbelief with which many contemporary Christians have received TTL does not alter in the least the eternal importance embodied by the arrival of this work, and if it is first the subsequent generation of Christians who in TTL are able to comprehend the second coming of Christ and the definitive revelation, there would be nothing unique in this. For time and again, in the history of mankind, the gifts that have been presented to the children of Earth - provided by way of the humanized Youngest (see sec. 1.5) - have not been recognized and fully appreciated until many years after their arrival; as a rule, it is posterity that is able to perceive the value of that which the contemporary populace blindly rejects.
